This icelandic sheepdog is practically family now!

Mødet foregik over to dage.
bliver for meget. Dette møde/besøg varede i omkring 1,5 time.

It seemed that both Molly and Sandy were interested in having another encounter with the sheepdog 'Nuser'. It's been a long time since they were last allowed to sniff and greet each other, so we thought it would probably be time to do it again soon. The meeting took place over two days.
The first day:
It was at dusk, but it certainly shouldn’t stop any of us. The rabbits were fresh and excited. They could feel that something was happening that was not usual. Molly seemed a little more excited about a potential encounter than Sandy. Sandy is and has always been a little more insecure when it came to the dog. Molly usually sneaks out and sniffs where Sandy is a little more observant, but at this meeting it actually went faster than expected that she became comfortable where curiosity overcame fear. Nuser is a sheepdog that just wants to take care of prey, so the rabbits have absolutely nothing to fear. On the contrary. But of course the rabbits do not know that, and they just want to be careful. The dog barked occasionally, but he did this because there were either predators nearby, and otherwise it was because he became impatient and just wanted to play with the rabbits. One should keep in mind that they are not used to each other's "kind" / species. Depending on whether you are a rabbit or a dog, it can be difficult to control your enthusiasm or worry. Both Molly and Sandy sometimes became insecure and chose to flee, but only a short time passed, then they returned, because they just had to investigate the mysterious creature a little closer. It was very interesting now anyway. The dog was constantly on a leash, to ensure that the rabbits were not frightened unnecessarily, for they were reluctant to believe that they were in real danger of death. It was therefore important that there was complete control over the dog throughout the meeting. But as time went on, they all became more confident with each other, and Molly and Sandy actually became so confident that they broke out of the little fence and ran out into the garden. The garden is already fenced and rabbit-secured, but since the dog was sitting out in the garden, we did not think that at any time they had intended to run out into the garden, but they did. They ran around in circles around Nuser, and it seemed that the rabbits were playing with him, because the dog was completely confused and barked easily, to try to understand what was going on, because as a sheepdog, he wants to keep the herd together, which was difficult when running in all directions. The whole meeting proceeded calmly and with caution. It is extremely important to have patience when several animals need to meet. The rabbits were locked in the small enclosure again. It was asked to lie down, and there he lay on a blanket, looking admiringly at the rabbits. When it started to get too dark and cold, we ended the meeting so that all parties could have some peace and rest. It consumes a lot of energy when something new happens.
The second day:
This day the meeting took place in daylight, which created significantly better orientation for everyone, which was much better. By the way, this day was the dog's (Nuser's) 13th birthday. The rabbits were regularly rewarded with treats, and at the same time it erased the tension when they again faced the sheepdog. It is also everywhere all the time. The dog was again carefully checked, and also this day there was the wagging and barking on the part of the dog. They were all three very curious, and little by little they were moved closer to each other without actually knowing anything. They were all three rewarded with treats, and since they were so focused on the treats, they probably forgot to keep an eye on the distance, but there was always one of us by the rabbits, and the other by the dog. Nuses were this time locked into the small enclosure, and everything went slowly and carefully. There was now no fence between them and they were closer to each other now. Molly started sneaking over to the dog and little by little she formed a special bond with him. Sandy was still a little more cautious, retreating quickly if Nuser got a little too close. Everything takes its time, and of course, Sandy must be allowed to retire when it all gets too much. However, the rabbits were not always happy with the uninvited guest's home, which they had never said they would invite, but both rabbits took it all really nicely. This meeting / visit lasted about 1.5 hours.
Sandy had overcome some of her fear of the partially stranger dog, and Molly had formed a closer bond with him. This is called progress. It's impossible not to be proud of Molly and Sandy and the sheepdog Nuser. They had all done an amazing job in those two days where just all three of them were thrown into a meeting with each other.
