Happy 4th birthday buns!
It was the rabbits' birthday today and they got themselves some exciting gifts that I hope they will use. We came and woke them up with birthday songs made specially for them and with flags in hand that we flagged with on our way through the garden to let them out in the rabbit run.
They received both a gift from Maxi Zoo and a gift from each of us owners to each our rabbit. They seemed happy with their gifts, and they immediately began to peel open the packaging and goof what was inside. The first gift they got was in the morning and they both got a small bag of apple snacks. The first gift was from Maxi Zoo and they also managed to eat a good handful of snacks before we had to stop them. The other gift for Molly was a small pile of dried sticks made of grass and a grass carrot. We gave them lots of grass and an orderly pile of dandelion flowers during the day. In the morning while we let the rabbits out in their rabbit run we decorated their entire rabbit run with a lot of Danish flags. They were made of fabric so that they did not make an unnecessarily sound in the wind which paper flags would do so we chose it to be flags made of fabric. In addition we put up the big flag in the flagpole so everyone could see that the rabbits' birthday was being celebrated.
A plate filled with fruits and vegetables was made so the rabbits could eat whatever they wanted. They only have a birthday once a year, so it must be celebrated properly. We made a lot of different fruits, herbs and vegetables. There were for example watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, apple, dried blackberries and nettle leaves, squash cabbage, dandelion flowers, dandelion leaves, carrot peas, basil, dried dandelion flowers, strawberries, dandelions roots and rye bread for each of the rabbits. They goofed a little of each type of food. They were so happy when they saw that we came with a whole plate full of fruit and other flavors they could enjoy.
We had made a poem / rhyme and a letter for each of our rabbits respectively. It seemed like they were listening to what we had to say and they were wished congratulations many times that day.
They were of course also a stroll out in the garden to burn off the last energy, and they ran around the entire garden as they usually do but the difference was that this time we also decorated the garden with some flags however it was paper flags that they could examine. They had to know that it was their birthday wherever they went. However the paper flags were taken down again after they were let in to their rabbit run again. But it seemed like they were enjoying running around the entire garden to nudge the strange flags that had been planted in the ground. We also took some pictures when the rabbits were in the garden. As we could begin to feel that they were not as energetic as they were at first and that they had begun to find places to rest, we decided it was time to let them in their rabbit run again, so they could get a good rest.
We took a lot of pictures throughout the day and some of them can be seen below. We had fun all day and birthday hugs were given. They were really tired when we put them to bed in the evening. Now they are officially 4 years old.
